A Safe Passage
supporting Women Survivors of Abusethrough the childbearing year

For Women Survivors in the Childbearing Year

These pages are dedicated to pregnant women who are in abusive relationships or who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, past woman abuse, sexual assault or trauma from a previous pregnancy.

Our hope is that you will find here the information you need to better understand the impact of abuse or trauma on pregnancy, labour & childbirth and mothering; a sense that you are not alone and that there are caring people willing to listen; and a means by which you can connect with the resources needed to ensure your safe passage through the potential triggers of the childbearing year, and onwards toward healing.

You will find relevant resources listed in each section, as well as on the dedicated page of Resources.

There is also a page of information about Birth Counselling, which is of benefit to any pregnant woman but particularly to childbearing women who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse, survivors of adult sexual assault, pregnant women currently or previously in abusive relationships, and expectant women who have had a traumatic previous pregnancy or childbirth experience.
